City police custody is not the county complex
The August 4, 2026 BSCC list classifies Santa Ana Police Facility, record 3765, as TH (temporary holding). The May 18, 2026 inspection letter, covering the April 10 inspection, also identifies Santa Ana City Jail as TH.[1][14] It should not be treated as a Type II residential jail on the strength of an older listing.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Central Men’s Jail, Central Women’s Jail and Intake Release Center are separate county records—not the Santa Ana Police Facility.[1] A Santa Ana arrest does not tell you the signer’s current facility.
Follow the custody location first
Ask the arresting agency whether the person remains in city custody, has been released or has transferred. If transferred, obtain the receiving agency and exact facility. For county custody, use the Sheriff’s custody information, then confirm the current housing location directly.[5]

Prepare the signing without assuming access
Have the complete document, recipient instructions and deadline ready. Once the location is confirmed, ask whether that facility can accommodate a notary, identification, any required witnesses, and document delivery and return. A holding classification does not establish admission or predict an individual release time.
