One facility, two locations
The official ICE facility page lists the Adelanto ICE Processing Center with an East location at 10400 Rancho Road and a West location at 10250 Rancho Road, both in Adelanto, CA 92301.13 Both are covered on this page because ICE presents them as one facility, but the visit is arranged for the specific building where the signer is housed.
The Executive Office for Immigration Review lists the Adelanto Immigration Court at 10250 Rancho Road, Suite 201A, and states that filings are accepted only at Adelanto West.16 The court's location does not tell you where a person is housed, and a notary visit is not a court filing.
Confirming custody and the building
Before travel, we suggest checking the ICE Online Detainee Locator System. ICE says the system can locate people currently in ICE custody, or in CBP custody for more than 48 hours, recommends searching by A-number when available, and does not provide information for people under 18.15
Use the official locator directly and keep the A-number out of ordinary text messages and web forms. Once the person is located, we confirm East or West with the facility, because housing can change. The ICE facility page lists 760-561-6100 as the facility contact number.13
How the visit is arranged with the facility
ICE publishes social and legal visitation rules for Adelanto.13 Those categories cover family visits and visits by attorneys, accredited representatives, and legal assistants. A notary is none of those, and we do not ask to be treated as one.
When we contact the facility we describe the visitor accurately as an independent California notary and describe the document purpose at a high level, then ask what category, approval, credentials, and appointment process apply. If the person's attorney is coordinating the signing, we are glad to work alongside that attorney, but the notary visit is a notarization and does not create an attorney-client relationship with us.
Getting the document and ID ready
Have the complete document ready and tell us whether it is already signed. An acknowledgment requires personal appearance and acknowledgment of the signature; it may have been signed earlier. A jurat requires personal appearance, signing in front of the notary, and an oath or affirmation. Ask the recipient or an attorney which act is required; the notary cannot choose or draft your legal document.
A California notary can perform an eligible notarial act after making the required identity and willingness determinations. The notary visit covers that notarization. Choosing or preparing immigration forms, powers of attorney, declarations, or other legal documents, and immigration or legal advice, are separate services and are not part of a notary booking. For identification, we ask the facility how the signer can access an ID. Being in ICE custody, holding a foreign passport or consular document, or having a copy on file does not create an automatic rule either way; the notary assesses the actual identification method under California law at the signing, and the facility has to permit access to whatever is used.
If witnesses are required, we confirm whether they may enter and how they are approved. Facility staff should not be assumed to serve as witnesses.
Getting the document in and out
We ask whether the final document may be carried in, mailed, sent through counsel, or delivered another approved way, and whether envelopes, staples, attachments, or copies are restricted. We settle how the signed document will come back out before the visit.
We do not promise same-day delivery, filing, or completion. Facility approval, confirming the building, signer availability, interpretation needs, identification, and document movement all affect timing, and we would rather be honest about that than overpromise.

How do I know whether the signer is at Adelanto East or West?
Can a notary come in under legal visitation?
Not automatically. ICE's legal-visitation rules apply to attorneys, accredited representatives, and legal assistants.13 We describe the visit accurately and follow whatever process the facility sets for a notary.
Can you find the detained person for me?
The official ICE locator is the right tool, and we will explain how to use it. We do not collect or store A-numbers or other sensitive custody identifiers, so please use the locator directly and tell us only what we need for the visit.
Is the immigration court at East or West?
EOIR lists the court and its filing location at West, 10250 Rancho Road.16 That does not establish where the person is housed.
How much does an Adelanto ICE visit cost?
